Organised by La Boutique of Windmill Hill, a lovely evening of socialising, Prosecco and browsing was capped by a 25 minute fashion show with local models showcasing dresses and accessories from the shop.
On Thursday November 22nd, 175 Guests were welcomed to the Church Hall where refreshments were served and where a boutique had been set up with clothes and accessories, and even a changing room. At 8:30 pm everyone went through into the church where the fashion show took place against the wonderful backdrop of the newly restored Chancel paintings. Painted in 1897 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, they were beautifully restored in this Jubilee year of 2012, in a project partly supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Fashion Show raised £1600 towards the cost of the restoration: a tremendous effort and result for which we are extremely grateful.
The Vicar, The Reverend Gordon Giles, whose wife Jessica helped conceive the idea with Marilyn Gaitely and Sarah Mahmoud of La Boutique, said:
“It was a rare evening, with the Chancel shown of in its glory and the wonderful clothes adding modern life and colour. Once again 1897 and 2012 came together to create a real jubilee of sight and sound. It was also great fun and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.”The Reverend Gordon Giles
