Organ events at St Mary Magdalene Church
We will be celebrating the completion of our organ rebuild over our Patronal weekend (20 & 21 July) in style!
Saturday 20 July
We will be kicking off the weekend at 6:00pm on Saturday 20th with a very special ‘Organ Spectacular’. This is a free concert and not to be missed. Featuring varied selections and styles of music being played on the newly restored organ by our organists past and present to show what it can now accomplish.
Sunday 21 July
At 10:00am our Patronal Festival Service will again feature the organ with the choir singing Haydn: A Little organ Mass during the service and Stanford: Te deum in Bb as the Anthem after communion.
We’re back again for the 6:30pm Choral Evensong when we will be joined by the Bishop of Edmonton, Bishop Rob Wickham, who will be blessing the newly restored organ. The choir (busy rehearsing this music) will be joined by a few friends and the choir will sing:
Canticles: Wood in Eb
Anthem: Ode on St Cecilia’s Day (excerpts) – Handel.
No 10. Sop. Solo: But oh! What art can teach.
No 12. Sop Recital: But bright Cecilia.
No 13. Chorus: As from the power of sacred lays.
Accompanied by the organ throughout.
Do try to come along and celebrate with us in what promises to be an exciting weekend, even if you can only make one of the events.
