Parish Magazine ~ September 2021

St Augustine heard a voice from on high that said: “I am the food of grown men; grow, and you shall feed upon me; nor shall you change me, like the food of your flesh, into yourself, but you shall be changed into me.”.

Coffee Mornings

Coffee Mornings

I was delighted to welcome 24 people to my coffee morning on the 17th August & to hear all the laughter & chat making it feel really “normal”. We had delicious homemade cakes, an interesting “Bring and Buy” table & a truly magnificent Raffle which resulted in almost everyone winning a prize!! So, thank you all for coming & bringing items for sale. I am also over the moon to report that we raised £280 so with the gift aid that will amount to £340 which is earmarked for the Vestry kitchen. Well done everyone who helped & attended - please let's carry on with the next one on 21st September at Eleanor’s house. Huge thanks & love to you all again - Rita

Please put the following dates all at 11a.m. in your diary/calendar & hope to see lots of you all.

Knitting – a message from Janet Reed

A big thank you to everyone who has given us wool in the last few months.

We have just handed 70 jumpers and 5 blankets to UK-AID – FELSTED AID FOR DEPRIVED CHILDREN which will be taken directly to Chernobyl in Ukraine.

The needles are still clacking and any balls of wool (DK), no matter how small, will be used in a very worthy cause.

Again, many thanks
Janet Reed.

Coffee and Concerts

Lunchtime Concerts

At last we are going to be able to return monthly recitals at our Church beginning at 12:30pm on the second Wednesday of the month.

We shall begin on Wednesday, 8th September when Catherine Leonard will play the piano for about half an hour. She has played for us annually since 2011 and has been very popular.

The concert will be in Church and preceded by coffee / tea and cake costing £2.50, served at the back of the Church from 11:30 onwards so that people can spread out. As usual there will be no charge for coming to the concert but there will be a retiring collection. Do come along and support.

Also - Help needed

Ann and Alice have been loyal helpers for concert refreshments for some time but cannot help at the moment, so if a lady or gentleman could spare a couple of hours once a month, please speak to Carol Lamb or Eleanor Pritchard to find out what is involved. Thank you.

Eleanor Pritchard.
