Dear Friends
Our beautiful daughter was born at 12:18pm, Tuesday 28th June, at Kingston Hospital, weighing 6lb 9oz (2,975g), Damaris Mary Sophia Lawson. Her Ghanaian name is Araba Benyiwa.
Love, James & Nana.
Sunday and weekday Services
Our weekly service times are:
Sunday 10:00am Eucharist
Tuesday 10:00am Morning Prayer (BCP)
Thursday 10:30am Holy Communion (BCP)
The weekly online service is now a livestream of our Sunday Morning Eucharist Service. The link for the livestream page is https://stmarymagdalene.church/livestream-service/ the Service for the coming Sunday is listed on this page on a Friday. The page includes a video that will go live at approximately 9:55am on Sunday, it also has the words to the hymns, collects and readings and has a downloadable service booklet. It will continue to be made available to those who, for whatever reason, are unable to attend church.
A Wonderful Result
I’m sure you will be interested to know that last Sunday I gave Ken £1,107.05 for church funds. This included profits from the Pancake Evening, the Jubilee Party and a marvellous £780 at the Spring Fair. And this great total was after I’d paid for the Agape and stocked up on wine for future events while Sainsbury’s had 25% off!
I can only say a huge thank you to you all for supporting these events and, of course, a special thank you to the team – Alison, Wendy and Eleanor – without whom none of it would be possible.

St Mary Magdalen – A sacred cantata by Sir John Stainer
A not to be missed event! This Cantata with choir and soloists will be performed for the first time in many, many years.
St Mary Magdalen by Sir John Stainer. First performed in 1883.
St Mary Magdalene Church, Enfield. EN2 7AJ (Dedicated 1883)
This Cantata was commissioned by the Three Choirs Festival for a performance in 1883 in Gloucester Cathedral. 1883 is the year of the Dedication of our church of St Mary Magdalene in Enfield and so this is an appropriate work for us to perform. We had intended performing it in 2020 but the pandemic got in the way and so this is the first opportunity since then.
This has provoked national interest and our space is limited so please book your ticket early to avoid disappointment.

Our World for Ukraine
If you enjoyed watching Etcetera Morris dance at our Jubilee Party, then you will be pleased to know they are coming back. On October 1st they will be taking part in our Folk Evening, which will be a charity event in aid of Ukraine.
But folk is not all about Morris dancing – other dances, songs, stories and traditions have been handed down the generations in all parts of the world and are still performed today. Here at St Mary’s we have a very diverse community, so I’m sure many of you will have something from your part of the world or area of the UK that you could contribute to the evening – a dance, a song, a poem, a folk tale or legend. Maybe you could show us how to put on an Indian sari or a Nigerian headress, how to do the Māori Hakka or make a Welsh cake.
If you think you might have something to contribute then please come and talk to me so I can start putting a programme together. I’ve given you loads of time so get your thinking caps on!
Of course it goes without saying that food and drink will be available on the night in true St Mary’s fashion, but more of that nearer the time.

Lost
I am looking for a black case containing a set of Bell Plates. You may remember Bella and Elise Horlick with Katie Smart playing them in church. The case, which for years, was stored under the choir benches on the pulpit side, is about 20 inches long by 15 inches. It has been missing for some time and soif you know where it is, please let me know. It was bought for the Church and especially for the use of young people.
