Funerals
A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world. It is also an occasion for commending someone to God’s safe keeping,
The loss of a loved one is a distressing time for family and friends. Feelings of loss or grief are not the only things to be dealt with, there are also very often many practical matters to be sorted out, including arranging a funeral. Many people find it important to have a religious funeral service, during which those who have passed away are blessed and commended to almighty God’s safe keeping, and a time for giving thanks for their life and everything they meant to those whose lives they touched.
Whether you would like the funeral at St Mary Magdalene’s, or if you would like the Vicar to take a service at a crematorium, then do let your funeral directors know.
If you would like more information, please contact the Vicar.

Following the death of my beloved Husband Ray after being together for 65 years I was, needless to say, heartbroken but I received massive support and love from our Vicar along with everyone else at St. Mary’s with the arrangements for the funeral plus coping with my loss. A few weeks later Ray’s ashes were interred in St. Mary’s Memorial Garden following a very short, simple but lovely service in church and yet again the support was given and greatly appreciated. This love and support has continued for the last 6 years and has helped me to carry on enjoying life both socially and spiritually, so I consider myself very fortunate to have been a regular worshipper at St. Mary’s for the past 54 years sharing with so many friends in the love of Jesus.

Livestream of Church Funeral Service
We offer a Livestream Service of the Church Funeral Service only that can be viewed online by those unable to physically attend the Service.
This is provided by single camera, shooting in HD quality positioned at the front of the Church. Only the pallbearers and those directly taking part in the Service will be filmed for safeguarding reasons. We have six microphones that can be used (one of which will be the priest's microphone). These mics broadcast directly to the livestream and our sound system.
We provided a link to the livestream which can be shared worldwide. The video is not publicly available and is only viewable by those with the link. We aim to go live approximately ten to fifteen minutes before the Service starts. The Service is also recorded and can be made available as an mp4 file to download, usually within 24 hours of the Service.
At an extra cost, we can provide an edited version of the Service which includes subtitles and possibly photos that you provide of your loved one added as a slideshow at appropriate places within the Service e.g. during the introductory music, the Eulogy, or during the departing music. Please contact us for more details.
