So much of our lives revolves around a church, whether we realise it or not, whether we are regular attenders or not. A church can mark some of the major events and celebrations in life...

Baptisms, or Christening personally as a child (or adult) or invited as Godparent or guest.

Confirmations, where those who profess Christianity mark their journey in a special way.

Weddings, whether our own, a friend or relative's

Funerals, these mark the end of a person's life on earth and are often held in church.

We, at St Mary Magdalene, are here for you, whatever the occasion.

Looking to baptise your child?

In baptism, we thank God for his gift of life and publicly acknowledge his love.

Parishioners and regular worshippers are welcome to have their children 'christened' in St Mary Magdalene. During the christening service your child will be baptized and with the support of the church, you and godparents, your child begins an amazing journey of faith.

Confirming your faith

Confirmation marks the point in the Christian journey where those who have been baptised make a firm commitment to live and work as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop, the Church asks God to fill each candidate with the power of the Holy Spirit to live the life of a disciple.

Getting Married?

Weddings are a public witness to the love that two people have for each other.

Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England between a man and a woman take place in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. You're welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are baptised and whether or not you go to church.

Marking the end of a person's life here on earth.

A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world.
